We envision an East Africa where no mother or child dies from preventable causes through empowering midwives and volunteers.
To create a future in East Africa where every mother and child thrives, through a robust and empowered midwife that provide accessible and quality care.
1. Promote dialogue between all segments of East African Midwives to meet and discuss issues on issues concerning the Continent and its future midwifery association, women health right, youth and Adolescent sexual and reproductive health and other vulnerable population categories.
2. To advance midwifery education and the role of the professional midwife, to improve the standard (quality) of maternal and child health care.
3. Empowering women and women volunteerism workers to become an active part of the movement to end gender-based violence, to support survivors of gender-based violence and to participate in general developmental activities.
4. To lobby and advocate on issues relating to general and reproductive health of women, families and to promote equity and equal access to high-quality maternity services.
5. To support all members to communicate and co-operate with women’s groups, lay groups, other professional groups and organizations representing health care professions in the East Africa.
6. Promote partnerships and collaborations with East African Midwives Associations, national and local midwives and co-operate with women’s groups, lay groups, other professional groups who are a real strength in reducing maternal mortality rates, which remain high in several countries, and in fighting against post-partum injuries.
7.To influence healthcare policies and standards of women volunteerism and midwifery practice by being an innovative nursing organization in Africa to empower its members for them to achieve excellence in person-centered care through education, creativity, collaboration and leadership.
8. Promote communities’ engagement and help them make change from within by supporting communities’ others cannot or do not reach and championing women who are at the heart of their family’s and community’s health.
9. Promote and support efforts of institutions engaged in review of the future of East Africa and forge Pan-African values in order to enhance an African social model and way of life.
10. Promote women’s and Midwifery Social Enterprises and sustainability’s of Midwives Association in East Africa.
